spanisch-jüdischer Historiograph, * Córdoba 1110, ✝ Toledo zwischen 1170 und 1180; erster jüdischer Aristoteliker vor Maimonides. In seinem religionsphilosophischem Werk suchte er die Identität von aristotelischer Philosophie und biblische Offenbarung nachzuweisen. Damit gelang es ihm als Erstem, den Aristotelismus in die bis dahin fast ausschließlich vom Neuplatonismus geprägte jüdische Philosophie einzubringen.
